For nearly two decades, we have worked alongside community organizations across North America to support environmental care, animal protection, and human rights. We believe lasting progress is more likely when local people have the resources and space to shape solutions for their own communities. Rather than relying only on traditional charitable models, we aim to build long-term relationships based on cooperation, trust, and shared goals.
A key part of this work is finding useful destinations for products that cannot be sold through our usual retail channels but remain safe and suitable for use. Items that meet our quality and safety requirements may be offered to community partners instead of being discarded. This approach helps organizations access practical resources while reducing the amount of usable stock sent to waste facilities.
We work with groups whose efforts address the deeper causes of social and environmental challenges. Partners may promote public education, advocate for institutional accountability, protect civil rights, or organize peaceful community action. We value work that can strengthen systems and benefit many people over time, alongside programs that meet immediate local needs. Our support is guided by the belief that informed communities and sustained collaboration can help bring about meaningful change.
We seek to include organizations serving people who have historically faced barriers to resources and representation. This may include Indigenous-led initiatives, neighborhood groups, and other community networks working to improve access to personal care and essential services. We do not require every partner to hold formal charitable registration. The purpose of our support is to respond to community needs and recognize effective work, not to impose a single organizational structure.
Our distribution teams manage requests of different sizes, from small packages to large shipments. By routing eligible goods through these networks, we help keep many products in use and make them available to people and organizations that can put them to good purpose. This process also connects our operational resources with partners working in areas near our manufacturing and distribution sites.
Some of our collaborations support Indigenous communities and land defenders involved in peaceful environmental advocacy and ecological learning. These partnerships can help connect local knowledge and campaigns with broader networks concerned with environmental protection. We also support urban organizations working to advance civil liberties, improve access to health-related resources, and increase the visibility and representation of communities that are often overlooked. Their work can create welcoming spaces where people can connect, organize, and build local capacity.
Other partners serve displaced families and people navigating migration systems or living near border regions. Their programs may offer educational guidance, literacy activities, mentoring, and opportunities to maintain cultural traditions through art and community gatherings. These services can provide stability and connection during periods of uncertainty, while helping preserve knowledge and cultural expression across generations.
We also collaborate with animal welfare organizations that advocate for humane research and alternatives to animal testing. These groups contribute to public discussion, support the development of different research methods, and work toward better protections for animals. We recognize the importance of their efforts and value the knowledge they bring to this area.
Community needs and circumstances change, so our partnerships require ongoing communication and thoughtful coordination. We listen to organizations about the resources they can use, the communities they serve, and the challenges they encounter. Responsible distribution means sending suitable products, respecting the work of local partners, and considering how our support can be most useful.
Our community initiatives are one part of a broader commitment to use our resources responsibly. By working with local groups, supporting underfunded causes, and keeping usable products in circulation, we hope to contribute to stronger communities and a healthier environment. We are grateful to the people and organizations who carry out this work every day, often with limited resources, and we aim to stand beside them through consistent, practical support.
